Marina at Washington Island

Picture
Marina at Washington Island
16 x 24 inches
Acrylic on Canvas

"It’s the colors, always the colors. I was explaining to my daughter how the colors at this Washington Island, WI, marina would work in a painting--the muted dark red, the dark gray, the yellows of the hull and the dry grass, the darker greens, violated by the more intense aqua and green. I didn't mention Baziotes, but was thinking about his color schemes that I had found so difficult to accept in my younger days. Then I realized I would have to actually make the painting."
